In November, a team of volunteers participated in a 3-peak challenge raising vital funds for children in Gaza. The group raised over £ 4,200 for Leading UK charity, Muntada Aid which has been providing essential psychological support to children in Gaza since 2021 along with food and supplies since the conflict broke out in October.
The main motivation for the team was the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and the money raised is going to support the construction of the Muntada Aid-run PTSD clinic in Gaza, which was damaged in the ongoing war.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge was a 24-mile (38.6km) round trip route with 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. The Three Peaks were the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), with a 24-mile (38.6km) round trip route. These hills form part of the Pennine range and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
In 2022, Muntada Aid helped over 24,000 people in Gaza with various levels of psychological support through its PTSD clinic but unfortunately, the building was damaged during the conflict and vital funds are being raised to help repair this important service. It is one of the few centres offering psychological support and treatment to children with PTSD in Gaza.
Since the conflict broke out in October people desperately need lifesaving water, shelter, and food. Muntada Aid is working with partners on the ground, to help provide humanitarian assistance to those in need.
