Tanzania Deployment — August 2026

Bringing Extra Help Where It's Needed Most

August 2026, Muntada Aid will be taking a deployment to Tanzania. With your support, we will provide life-changing programmes across four key areas: cataract surgeries, food packs and hot meals, education support, and sustainable livelihood projects.

Our goal is to not just respond to immediate need, but to partner with communities on a journey towards health, dignity, and lasting opportunity.

Restoring Sight: Cataract Surgeries in Tanzania

In Tanzania, vision loss remains a major public health challenge. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness, accounting for the majority of cases of severe visual impairment in the country, especially in rural areas where eye care services are limited. Around 2.4%–4.7% of the population experience bilateral blindness, with cataracts responsible for over 65% of that blindness — meaning tens of thousands of Tanzanians are living with avoidable vision loss.

Access to cataract surgery in Tanzania is extremely limited, with a shortage of trained eye health professionals and surgical capacity. In many regions, people must travel long distances to reach care, which few can afford. In recent years, outreach eye camps and surgical interventions have made a difference, bringing critical services to hundreds of people who otherwise would never receive help. During this deployment, Muntada Aid will work with local partners to deliver high-impact cataract surgeries and screenings, particularly focusing on older adults and underserved communities. Giving someone back their sight doesn't just restore vision — it restores independence, dignity, and the ability to earn a living and participate fully in family and community life.

Feeding Families: Food Packs & Hot Meals

Food insecurity continues to be a daily reality for thousands of families in Tanzania. Many households struggle to put meals on the table, especially in rural and low-income urban areas where seasonal changes, climate pressures and limited job opportunities increase vulnerability.

Muntada Aid will distribute food packs and provide hot meals to families who are facing severe economic hardship. These food packs will include staple items that can sustain a household through lean periods, helping parents ensure their children are nourished and able to concentrate in school and daily life.

Food assistance is not only about filling an empty stomach — it's about protecting health, reducing stress on caregivers, and giving families the space to build their futures rather than just survive day by day.

Supporting Education for a Brighter Tomorrow

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty — yet many children in Tanzania still face barriers to accessing quality schooling. Whether due to distance, school costs, or lack of educational resources in rural areas, students can struggle to stay engaged and complete their studies.

Muntada Aid's Tanzania deployment will support education-focused initiatives, including:

• Supplementary learning sessions for children in underserved communities

• Support for school supplies and learning materials

• Working with local educators to strengthen classroom engagement

• Encouraging community participation in education to boost attendance and retention

Providing support for education helps children develop skills and confidence — and supports their long-term wellbeing and opportunity.

Livelihood Projects: Building Sustainable Futures

A core part of the Tanzania deployment is livelihood support designed to help families become more economically resilient. Too often, limited income opportunities and lack of capital force families into cycles of precarious work.

Muntada Aid's approach to livelihoods includes supporting small business opportunities and projects that can provide ongoing income generation. These initiatives empower people to support their households sustainably, rather than just meeting short-term needs

Whether through vocational support, tools and equipment for income-generating work, or tailored livelihood grants, this deployment will help families build stability that lasts long after the mission ends.

Why Tanzania Matters

Tanzania is one of East Africa's most vibrant nations, yet many of its communities still face steep challenges. Access to healthcare — especially surgical care like cataract treatment — remains limited outside major cities. Educational attainment lags in rural and low-income areas. And many families struggle to secure stable livelihoods.

But Tanzania also has incredible potential. With the right support and partnerships, communities can thrive. This deployment is designed to work with local structures, community leaders, and health systems to support that growth — not merely to exist alongside them.

How You Can Help

Your support for the Tanzania Deployment will translate into real impact on the ground:

• Someone regaining sight and independence through cataract surgery

• Families receiving nutritious food packs and hot meals

• Children engaging more confidently in education

• Parents gaining sustainable sources of income

Together, we can help communities move from hardship toward hope — from survival toward dignity.
