About Water Crisis in Gaza
Even before the ongoing crisis in Gaza, the clean drinking water situation was quite bad.
According to the UN, 600,000 people who had regained access to drinking water in November 2020 are once again cut off. The UN agencies estimate that 1.8 million people – over half of them children – urgently need water, sanitation and hygiene assistance.
The situation worsened after aid blockade on March 2. At the main desalination plant in Khan Younis, output has decreased by 85 percent.
The remaining water system will completely collapse, cutting off people’s access to this vital resource and leading to inhumane consequences for the millions of Palestinians who remain inside Gaza.
According to reports only 4% is drinkable at the moment.
Along with injuries and deaths from the ongoing fighting and bombing, people face the serious consequences of lack of water, including its impact on their living conditions and health.

What is Muntada Aid Doing?
Before the ongoing war, Muntada Aid was building community based desalinations plants, which are damaged due to the ongoing bombing.
Muntada Aid is currently supplying clean drinking water tankers to hundreds of people inside Gaza daily. With the help of our partners on the ground, we provide clean water to displaced communities.
